You are cordially invited to attend a Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) training session and Train-the Trainer
workshop. The event will take place on Sunday, May 15 at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong. We appreciate Dean Kaye Chon and Miss Winnie Lau for graciously hosting this event.
Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA)-The Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics is being offered globally to students, professors and industry professionals through a joint effort between AH&LEI, ICHRIE and STR. Nearly 5,000 CHIA certifications have been granted, and nearly 60 public training sessions have been conducted. The CHIA is the leading
certification for industry professionals focused on analytics and the leading hotel-related certification for students graduating from Hospitality and Tourism programs. It is endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality and many other hotelorganizations.
This recognition provides evidence of a thorough knowledge of the foundational metrics, definitions, formulas, and
methodologies that are used by the hotel industry. Recipients have proven that they can do the math and interpret the
results. They have demonstrated an ability to analyze various types of hotel industry data and to make strategic inferences
based upon that analysis. Certification also confirms a comprehensive understanding of benchmarking and performance
reports. Achieving this distinction announces that these recipients have a place among the best professionals in our industry and opens the doors to future career opportunities. Participants receive a certificate and are able to use the CHIA designation on their business cards and resumes.

A detailed outline and also testimonials are available. The session also prepares instructors to be able to present the CHIA
training to their students. A comprehensive training package is available including PowerPoints, application exercises,
supporting materials, quizzes and practice exams. It is easy to personalize the training related to a specific area of the world or for the specific needs of a school, company or organization.
Workshop Details–The workshop will be conducted by Mr. Duane Vinson. The room will open at 8:30 am and training will start at 09:00 and continue until 17:00. There will be coffee/drink breaks and a break for lunch at around 12:00. Breakfast will not be provided. Dress code is business casual. Training materials will be made available to participants prior to the session. This is just a one-day session, so it will be optimal for participants to review the training material prior to the session if at all possible. Please bring the training materials with you to the workshop on a laptop, or you can bring them in hardcopy format. There are a lot of slides so if you create hardcopies of the Power Points, you might want to print multiple slides per page and use both sides of the page. Training will be presented in English.
Once you have completed the training you will have the opportunity to take the CHIA exam online at your earliest convenience. It is a 50 question multiple choice test with a 90 minute time limit. Upon successful completion (70% or greater), you will receive your CHIA certificate.
Introduction
The 2nd Global Tourism & Hospitality Conference and The 15th Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism Conference will feature a pre-conference workshop on “pursuing a successful research career” to be held on May 15, 2016 at afternoon. In this workshop, three international scholars at different stages of their career will share their experiences on how to achieve academic excellence. Audience will learn how to write research articles, prepare grant proposals, and participate in other scholarly activities.
Dr. Alice Hon
Dr. Alice Hon is an Assistant Professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research interests are in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management in hospitality industry. Her research has been published in referred hospitality, management, and psychology journals.
Dr. Hon is currently serving as one of Guest Editors for a special issue of Collaborative Innovation in International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management; a Coordinating Editor of International Journal of Hospitality Management; and an Editorial Board Member of Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research.
Dr. Bongkosh N. Rittichainuwat
Bongkosh N. Rittichainuwat, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and program director of the International Program in Hotel & Tourism Management at Siam University, Bangkok, Thailand. She received Bachelor of Arts from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Master in Hospitality Management from the Conrad N. Hilton College, University of Houston, and Ph.D. in Hospitality Management from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University, USA. She has papers published in reputable hospitality and tourism journals. She is on an editorial board of three leading tourism journals. In 2013, she received an outstanding alumna award from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Bongkosh is the chair of Hotel & Tourism of the Association of Private Higher Educational Institutes of Thailand.
Professor Rob Law
Prof. Rob Law has worked in Canada and Hong Kong in both industry and academia. As an active researcher, he has received many research related awards and honors, as well as millions of USD external and internal research grants. He has edited four books and published hundreds of research articles in reputable academic journals. Since 2011, his publications have received 10,000+ citations, with h-index/i 10-index = 50/168. In addition, Prof. Law serves in different roles for 140+ research journals, and is a chair/committee member of more than 130 international conferences.
